On 14th August 2024, both the Sensex and Nifty 50 experienced gains. The Sensex rose by 149.85 points, translating to a 0.19% increase, ultimately closing at 79,105.88 points. Similarly, the Nifty 50 gained 4.2 points, which is a 0.02% increase, closing at 24,143.20 points.

 

On 14th August 2024, both the Sensex and Nifty 50 experienced modest gains, reflecting a cautious yet positive sentiment in the market. The Sensex increased by 149.85 points, translating to a 0.19% gain, closing at 79,105.88 points. It reached a high of 79,228.94 points and a low of 78,895.72 points during the day. Similarly, the Nifty 50 edged up by 4.2 points, which is a 0.02% increase, closing at 24,143.20 points. The Nifty 50 recorded a high of 24,196.50 points and a low of 24,099.70 points during the trading session. These small gains suggest that the market was relatively stable, with investors showing cautious optimism.

An important indicator of market volatility, the India VIX (Volatility Index), decreased by 0.7125 points, representing a -4.41% drop, closing at 15.455. The India VIX reached a high of 16.22 and a low of 13.8225 during the session. This significant decrease in the VIX suggests that investor fears and market uncertainty were relatively low, contributing to the stability observed in the major indices.

 

The BSE Small Cap index fell by 304.61 points, translating to a 0.57% decrease, closing at 52,955.23 points. During the day, the index reached a high of 53,537.06 points and a low of 52,576.98 points. This decline indicates that small-cap stocks faced considerable selling pressure, possibly due to higher risk aversion among investors.

Similarly, the BSE Mid Cap index also declined, losing 190.42 points, or 0.41%, to close at 46,555.10 points. The index's intraday high was 46,945.18 points, while the low was 46,382.57 points. The performance of the mid-cap segment, although less severe than the small caps, still reflects a cautious approach by investors toward mid-sized companies, likely due to concerns over market volatility or economic conditions.

The declines in both the Small Cap and Mid Cap indices suggest that investors were more risk-averse, leading to reduced appetite for stocks in these segments, which are typically more volatile and sensitive to market sentiment compared to large-cap stocks.
